I have been very busy over the last 59 days. That’s how long I’ve been quarantined at home, and yes I’ve been counting the days. I’m 100% an extrovert and 59 days without hugs is weighing on my very soul, so I’m trying to fill it with all my many hobbies and favorite things.

I’ve dyed my hair blue.
Makes me look a little like the main character from Onward, I’ve been told. (Note to self: watch that show because it’s streaming for free for Disney+ subscribers.)
Learning that I can leave Arctic Fox on a little longer than most hair colors, since it’s a conditioning color, and lots of people apply it and sleep on it or leave it on for hours and hours and have less “fall out”. (Fall out means that the color gets on everything from clothes to sheets to pillows to the backs of chairs you sit in.)
Also learned that blue is a color that fades the fastest, so it’s a good thing I bought the big bottle of Poseidon!
I have been knitting up a storm.
My local yarn store Northwest Yarns is offering free delivery to my house, so that’s super dangerous. They also started a knit-along for a sweater pattern I’ve been drooling over so maybe I should do that.
So far while in quarantine, I’ve knit three hats, two pairs of socks, two shawl/wraps and a scarf. I’ve got just a bit more to knit to finish up two more wrap/shawl/scarves and I’ve got two more pairs of socks on the needles. Plus I think there’s a long-neglected sweater or two around here I could finish up if I really wanted to…

I started painting windows for our cat.
Olivia, our snowshoe Siamese has been ok in quarantine. She’s a little irritated that I now sing songs to her every morning while I make coffee and wake her up from her sunbeam naps to take pictures of her or pet her, and she’s definitely annoyed that I’m here all the time.
She’s indoor-only so her world is limited to what she can see out the windows, and she always perches in the same place. One morning at the beginning of quarantine, I had this idea to paint our front window as a display window for Olivia, not unlike the department store windows.
So now I paint weekly windows, and our neighbors love it. You can see the collection of windows here – my personal favorite is the latest one, a TIE Fighter where her “perch” is in the cockpit of the ship.
I’ve been baking my brains out.
Duke and I started sourdough starters together (using this “recipe” from the Kitchn) when I started quarantining, and we have made so.much.bread. I still have a long list of things I want to bake, but I think I’ve nailed the sourdough boule (like the one above) and Wolfgang ate an entire pan of my focaccia in less than 48 hours, so I think I’m doing ok.
I still want to try bagels, English muffins and pretzels, so there’s lots more carbs to be consumed in this house.
I hope you enjoyed this little peek into what I’m up to right now – I’d love to hear more about what you’re doing and how quarantine is going for you right now!
