My name is Libby, and I know a little bit about a lot of things. I am an enthusiastic human. I am big. I am colorful. I am kinda loud, a little chaotic, and I am multipassionate.
I have gone around and around in circles on this blog, trying to shove myself into boxes but when it all boils down, I have come to this conclusion: I am a maker.
My mission in life is to make beautiful, colorful things and show other people how to do the same.
I love crafting and cooking and gardening and I also really really love my Netflix and Hulu (and all that will get shared here). I love video, so you’ll see quite a bit here (and on my YouTube channel!). I love color, so you’ll see a helluva lot of that here as well.
I absolutely adore perfectly curated Instagram- or Pinterest-worthy moments, and sometimes you’ll see those here. I *REALLY* love food, so you’ll see a lot of posts about that here (and here in my Enthusiastic Eaters Club Facebook group). I love a good flat lay, and you’ll see those here too.
But you’ll also see my struggles. I don’t like to pretend that everything is gravy when it’s just a hot mess. I’ll probably through a couple of ways that you SHOULDN’T do it in our tutorials, because GOD KNOWS…I did it that way at least once. Probably twice.
What you will see here on MiaCupcake.com:
- Creating (knitting, sewing, paper crafts, cross stitch, etc)
- Single Mom Life (coparenting, juggling schedules, encouragement)
- Food (meal planning, recipes, techniques, kitchen disasters, probably a lot of cake and marshmallows)
- Travel (itineraries, tips, tricks)
- Entertainment (movies, books I love, my obsession with Netflix and Hulu)
Why do you call yourself Mia Cupcake? It has to do with roller derby and a breakup. Check out this post to find out why!
What’s life like at home? I am a single mom of two kids, who are amazing and outstanding. My small child hardly ever makes it to the internet (on purpose), but they are brilliant and awesome. My eldest is called “Wolfgang”, and he gets veto power on when I share him on the internet. He graduated from high school in 2018 but is so busy with theatre and work and his buddies, I can SOMETIMES catch him long enough to get a photo.
Wolfgang and I are working on a video series where we talk about life, and you can find those videos here.
I love Jesus, crafts, food, Disney, thrift shopping, cross stitch and knitting, Star Wars and Marvel (mostly anything having to do with Thor), the television show Supernatural, and traveling with my turquoise leopard print suitcase.
I believe that color, chaos and cooking can right a lot of wrongs.
I believe that a waiter who does not balk when I order a blue steak is the sign of an excellent restaurant, and 2 fingers of good whisky (neat, of course) is the perfect accompaniment to that blue steak.
I believe that pen and paper is one of the best ways to express yourself, and I do love a good rollerball pen with a fresh notebook.
I laugh really loud and I’m not ashamed of that. I love my tribe of people and bend over backwards to help people whenever I can.

I try really hard to post twice a week here on the blog (though honestly, sometimes life gets in the way), and I went through a phase where uploaded a new vlog to my YouTube channel every night for all of 2017.
My Instagram is full of photos of my daily life. Sometimes that’s wild and crazy and sometimes it’s just me dragging my laptop out onto our back deck to get a little vitamin D and taking photos of my gorgeous gardens or whatever I’m making in my kitchen.
My Pinterest is kind of a peek inside my brain. You’ll see gory horror special effects makeup, and frilly birthday cakes. Gorgeous ball gowns and all things Disney. Motivational quotes and a whole board on being a Boss Chick.
My YouTube channel contains the vlog from every day in 2017, kind of a misguided quest to be more awesome (turned out to be a lot of videos of me sounding a little preachy!). I also post unboxing videos, the occasional video of Wolfgang doing something amazing and brilliant and a few makeup application videos.
